Scone recipe: the ingredients at a glance

You don’t need fancy ingredients for scones. As a general rule, you should already have everything at home. The following recipe makes 15 to 20 buns, depending on size.


  • 500 grams of flour
  • 130 grams of sugar
  • 130 grams of butter
  • 2 packets of baking powder
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 150 milliliters of milk

Instructions: make your own scones

  1. Put the flour, sugar, butter and baking powder in a bowl and mix the dough with the dough hook.
  2. After a while, add the milk and knead the dough well.
  3. Flour your work surface and roll out the dough until it is about 2cm thick.
  4. Cut out the buns and place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. The original is always round.
  5. Mix the egg yolks with a splash of milk and brush the mixture over the buns.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees high/low or 175 degrees convection and leave the cakes in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
  7. Let the scones cool down and serve with tea with jam or cream.
  8. Note: Coagulated cream is a reduced whipped cream and therefore very fat. Manufacturing is relatively complex and takes several hours. However, you can easily buy them online.
