  3. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a cat await on the rope or the cable so if it does break it doesn't come back and cut you in half

  4. Again, false information is given here… The installed pulley gives you a change in the direction of pull but by no way a mechanical advantage. If you want a 2:1 advantage the pulley has to move not the cable.

  8. This was extremely helpful! I've never used a winch before and now I have one on my ATV. (I hate to admit it, but I didn't know about the clutch!) I picked up lots of little pointers that I didn't know about. Thanks so much!

  9. Thanks so much for this video. Just bought a new truck decked out with off-roading stuff and don’t know how to use any of it. Now I just need to figure out how to turn on the lights and use the 4 wheel drive lol

  10. Thanks for doing this video. I have learned more about winching from this video, than all the videos I've watched put together. The best note is putting a hidden disconnect to the battery. Too bad the free spool won't lock in place..

  11. having the winch hooked to the shackle then the strap is redundant isn't it? why not hook the winch directly to the strap and have fewer things in the system that can fail.

  12. I know its a different thing but i work with trucks that have tail lifts on the back and there is sometimes a controller so it can be raised either by the guy inside or the guy down on the road and if my hands or feet can get trapped i unplug the controller for the other guy… these things are so powerful and you cant take a chance when such a serious injury can happen in a second.

  14. Thanks for the video! Great information! I have a newbie first-winch question: Should I put my winch on the front or back of my vehicle? I'm not an aggressive rock climber or deep mud enthusiast. I'm just putting one on my van (2020 GMC Savana 2500 4×4) for emergencies. I'm thinking the back bumper is more practical, but I'm not sure. Thanks!
