Bass fishing in early spring can be some of the best bass fishing you will experience all year round! Catching Prespawn Bass can be easy once you find them! The BASS HAT – Follow me on Instagram – ty_berger In early spring, you truly have the best chance of catching the biggest bass of your life! The female largemouth bass is full of eggs and weighs the most it will weigh all year. It’s also one of the best opportunities to find some of the biggest bass schools you’ll see throughout the year. Not to mention that bass actually go into the feed bag just before heading to their spawning grounds, so catching them can be easy and fun once you find them. The onset of spring occurs at different times of the year depending on where you live. We will define early spring as the period just before largemouth bass begin their spawning rituals. In bass fishing terms, we consider this period of time to be pre-spawning. This is usually when the water temperature is between 45 and 60 degrees. However, this is not necessarily a law of bass fishing. Bass will spawn in varying water temperatures across the country. Smallmouths tend to spawn before largemouths and in cooler waters, like 55 degrees. Bigmouths can also spawn in water colder than 60 and they also spawn in water temperature of 80 degrees in warmer parts of the country like Florida. That said, if the water is in the 60s, most bass will be shallow and could spawn at any time. BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips and techniques that will get more fish in the boat or on shore. Whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass. 3. Question, will they move into the spawning area but not go on bed until time. I guess I'm asking will they be in shallow waters in the spawning area waiting to spawn or will they hang out on the main river??? Until time.

  5. Sometimes it’s good to just have a dang good reminder!!! that seems to hold true any lake!!!! I definitely have noticed the smallies like to typically down deeper and in colder waters as said and bass come in waves..I feel the first wave of females sometimes maybe it just me seems to be big girls!!!! I live off a murky water timber /rock filled lake and they will get shallow fast as you said little more then my stained and clearer water lakes which to me makes them even more predictable…nothing like finding a good pre spawn lost spawn staging area as there comin in and feeding back out sheesh it’s fun to get on em and full a lot that is when you know you found the pre spawn meet and seems like it’s a prespawn then prespawn:spawn always going on same time then I’ve seen June in ky hit and water hits 71 and catching em all 3 stages as you mentioned about the warming trends! I couldn’t agree more on bait selection literally, I like to wait till after 60 degrees to really pull out my creature baits other then draws and the colors nailed it..black and blue is a staple in my murky waters on jigs and creature baits flippin timber and rock…tight lines everyone great info and the truth laid out on laymen terms I’ve learned the same thing but highlighting maps etc will help others understand lol. Some people probably think I’m crazy but I’ll idle alot usually prefishin just checking the lay out of lakes and areas before I pick a rod up on alot of lakes and just learn the lay out and what features and channels as you said the most key thing I think some good anglers need to learn..following them channel swings especially, the secondary ones can be amazing when cold fronts come in and u think they should be locked on the bed alot of times they’ll just pull back out to the creek mouth or move back out to the secondary point when bad spring storms come in I’ve noticed and red and burnt orange definitely play key especially the. Small jaws..red is most visible color in shallow water!!!

  7. You have provided an excellent and easy to follow method for breaking down a section of lake. Your sensible and straightforward approach is well done. As an intermediate level bass angler your description of the bass highway explains so many things. For me, you are connecting the dots! Thanks so much.

  9. You know I watch your videos all the time Tyler. I can’t wait for spring here in Michigan. I’m dying right now as lakes are starting to freeze. Luckily the weather has been inconsistent and the ice on my little 500 acre lake has been melting occasionally and then starting to get thinly frozen again once in a while.

  10. Many of your suggestions and points are very helpful. However in a kayak without electronics what can you recommend? Fishing prespawn in northern states has been very frustrating!
