It is said that 1 beer is equivalent to 1 glass of wine which is also equivalent to 1 shot of strong alcohol. But where does this formula come from and is it useful in practice? We explore the mathematics of a standard drink in America. Note: All units and definitions are for US customary units. Other countries have different definitions of a standard drink. The formula for a standard drink is provided for educational purposes to explain the definition, and as explained in the video, it is very easy to drink a different amount based on variations in alcohol content and portion size. Depends on person's weight .

A 110 lb woman will get drunk more easily on a glass of wine than a man weighing 200 lbs

Typically ,beer has the lowest amount of ABV . ( 8 ) vs wine (13) vs hard liquor ( 40)

I weigh 210 pounds and it takes about 10 ounces of wine to get be stumbling drunk vs 2 beers

Drunk asf rn

After lots of research, the Std drink number actually is a warning limit. It should be read as how strong that alcoholic beverage is and how many Std drinks (100ml) we should consume (safety rule: up to 2 for the first hour and 1 in subsequent hours to stay under 0.05). To illustrate, logo on red wine with 8 (13.5%) Std drinks Vs 8.4 (14%) means you should wait a little longer on the latter between each drink coz it has more alcohol in it. Remember DO NOT top up glasses as you might inadvertently break the safety rule. Correct me if I am wrong.

When exactly is an individual Christian offically drunk? How many ounces of alcohol before one crosses that line? What blood alcohol concentration makes a person officially chemically drunk? .02? .05? .08? Until we can find that exact offical chemical measurement, we can not say consuming alcohol as a Christian is acceptable to Jesus. It is better that all of us Christians peomote, support, teach and practice abstainancefrom all mind altering chemicals, alcohol being the most harmful. Praise Jesus.

.6 divided and alc % multiplied makes sense. But how do measure your volume?

wine is best

Always check your tires for chalk

Hhahaha lol

What a horrible last comment

This is good, but some of the figures are a tad off. I don't think I've ever seen a wine go as high as 15%. 14.5% is as high as I can remember. The only way you would get a cocktail that's above 40% is if it was based on a very high strength spirit, such as Absinthe, but even then it would have to be almost all spirit and not much else!

You don’t even drink why you watching this?

Yeah right…a drunker will keep up with math.😆😆😄

In srcondary school we made this the same measures.

We called 1 unit.

Ive never once heard a glass of wine be compared to a beer lmao

Uy is

“Let beer be for those who are perishing, wine for those who are in anguish!”

Lmafoooo choosing not to drink piss off!

I would say that liquor>>wine>beer…

And the safest option out there is definitely beer…

Starts to fall apart when you realize how many glasses of beer or wine person is most likely to order vs how many cocktails

Also, most places don't make this fantasy "strong" cocktail. Alcohol is expensive. They tend to cut down on alcohol.

Very helpful video…until that last completely unnecessary and unhelpful comment. If someone is going to this much trouble to monitor their alcohol intake, it's a safe bet they're struggling with drinking too much, and already past the point when they can just easily "choose" not to drink.

Imagine you are locked in a toy store with a screaming 2 year old. There's only one toy that will make them happy; it works perfectly; it works every single time–and it's the ONE toy you're NOT supposed to give to them. You try everything else, every toy in the store, every combination, everything you can think of. And meanwhile you're trapped in there with this berserk child. All day. Every day. For weeks. And months. And years. While the kid is screaming and kicking and crying and fighting and throwing things and screaming and hitting and screaming…and you know they'll never stop. Until you give them that one toy. As long as they have the toy, they're quiet and happy. Take the toy away and they go berserk again. And the kicker is–no one else can hear or see the tantrum. No one understands why it's so hard to not give them the toy. Welcome to the rest of your life.

That's how easy "choosing" not to drink is for someone with AUD (alcohol use disorder). Addiction is not about choice, and alcohol is one of the most addictive substances on the planet. Yes, the best choice is to not to drink in the first place, or drink very minimally and occasionally, and so not get addicted in the first place. But life doesn't come with a rewind button, and addicts are coping with a far more difficult daily reality than non-addicts will ever understand. So if you don't know what it's like from the inside, please keep your suggestions to yourself.

With wine you might have a Frenchman or heavy handed Italian and get 3 drinks worth

So question. Im over 300 pounds and i haven't really tried this but…if i have 3 shots of hard liquor thats 40% and about 2 750ml bottles of wine that has 13% within two hours will i be drunk? XD

There’s absolutely no way. I can drink 10 beers and be perfectly fine. If I take 10 shots, I’m a goner.

If you can't do the math I think it's safe to say your done drinking for the night

im watching this in 8th grade health class. why
