  1. Ok Kara and Nate I’m stuck at home with Covid so what better way to spend my time trying to feel better than rewatching all of your vlogs, thank you for helping me keep my mind off how poopy I feel

  2. Rescue helicopters are basically air taxis.
I bet a lot of those were just carrying trekkers that had pushed the 'QUIT' button.

When I was skiing in Austria, we used to see quite a few rescue helicopters around Saalbach.

However in Serfaus, a natural plateau high up in the mountains, we never saw any.
Probably because the ski lift rescue service ('banana' brancard guided by two veteran skilift operators) was good enough.
I had the misfortune to require their service when I broke my shoulder on the highest skislope near the end the day, 15:30 to 16:00 I believe.

But they were very gentle, didn't ski down like maniacs like I had envisioned. They even 'walked' quite a bit on their skis, all the while dragging me along in the 'banana.'

  3. The yaks are so cool! I bet you needed a chiropractor after carrying that pack without developing the muscles that were needed!

  4. If you want a "mini-porter job" without the elevation, you could work as a porter for the huts in the Whtie mountains in NH, they "only" carry 50 lbs. The elevation in the Himalyas would kill you. It would take a lifetime to build the kind of endurance for high altitudes.
